MECHATRONICS LAB FOR RAILWAYS

Rail Mechatronics lab at IRIMEE, Jamalpur

 

 

 

Modern Railway systems use equipment which is a combination

of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Automation & Control

Engineering. The Mechatronics Lab has been developed jointly

with FESTO, the world’s largest suppliers of Mechatronics

Training Systems to cater to the training needs in the Railway

Industry.

 

 

 

 

This training systems provides Comprehensive

Mechatronics training beginning at BasicPneumatic

and Hydraulic circuit, covering all commonly used

components up to complex systems and components

used in modern industrial automation systems.

  e-Learning software to cover the entire training scope in Hindi & English

 

 

 

 

 

 

Simple and complex circuits can be designed following a step by

step process. Guidance for Electro-pneumatic, Electro-hydraulic & PLC operated circuits for complex circuiting is provided.

 

All software is supplied in the ENGLISH and HINDI. Training

material in local languages canalso be supplied on request.

Meticulous instructional design for blending pneumatics, Hydraulics,

Electronics and control technologies using state of the art e-Learning 

and simulation techniques. 

 

Using FluidSIM, trainees and design professionals

can design, test and simulate pneumatic, Electro-pneumatic or hydraulic 

circuits.The simulation shows the status of a real circuit construction at

any time, and utilizes a comprehensive database of photographs, foils, animation, text and video sequences to provide an exhaustive range of simulations at selectable and scaleable levels of complexity.

Railway Specific Applications  The lab will include Railway specificapplications of Mechatronics systems. The trainee can

build and observe the behaviour of every component of the 

system and physically build applications.

 

 

 

 

In Metro trains, Electro-pneumatic brakes are blended

with dynamic brakes.Brake force is also controlled

accordingly to the passenger loading. Training systems

cater to building and simulating actual conditions.

Modern IR coaches come with the controlled discharge toilet

systems which operate on PLC logic and are programmed to

keep station locations clean. Trainees can alter the PLC

mprogram to not only study existing logic but also experiment

to improve the system.

 

 

 

Mechatronics is widely used in all IR production

units.Scaled down versions of factory automation

and quality control mechanism are demonstrated.

This training will  not only help the trainees understand

the system but  also will  help them suggest possible

improvements.

       140T Gottwald crane with Pneumatic & Hydraulic 

                   Circuits controlled through vehicle electronics

 

 

 

 

The 140T Gottwald Crane is manufactured by IR and

consists of complex pneumatic and hydraulic systems

coupled with control electronics. Mechatronics Lab has 

applications for the 140T crane that will be usefull in the

maintenance and operation of the crane. 

 

Similarly only Railway application may be used as on

exercise in the Mechatronics Lab.
